iStone always believes in great supplying high quality products which last for years. As our slabs or tiles can be used anywhere from kitchen worktops, office flooring, bars & pubs to bathrooms. Below are the list of tips or maintenance guidelines that will help the end customer to maintain their Granite, Marble, Quartz and tile worktops and floors.
Our stone is high heat resistant but we always suggest using coasters for hot pans, any heavy or sharp objects so that they don't damage the stone surface.
- Always remember that any worktop or flooring can burn/stain if heat is applied directly. Make sure you take precautionary measures while using them.
- The material is sometimes damaged by direct application of heat. Quartz stone is less heat resistant than other stone surfaces including most granite, marble and limestone; but is not affected by temperatures lower than 150 °C (300 °F). Quartz stone can be damaged by sudden temperature changes. Manufacturers recommend that hot pots and pans never be placed directly on the surface, and that a hot pad or trivet is used under portable cooking units.
- When used as floor tiles, care is required in ensuring compatibility with the adhesive used. Reaction resin adhesives and rapid drying cementitious adhesives are generally successful, but bond failure can occur with other cementitious adhesives. Additionally, agglomerate stone tiles are more sensitive to both thermal expansion and contraction and to dampness from underlying screeds, necessitating the inclusion of movement joints at a higher frequency than for stone or ceramic floor tiles (see for example British Standard BS 5385-5: 2011) and verification by testing of the dryness of underlying layers.
- Double check marble & granite cleaning products before buying, they should be suitable for usage on the natural stone and tiles. Some of them can cause discolouration which will be permanent.
- Best way to clean our products is with a damp cloth and mild soapy water.
- Always immediately clean any spillage to avoid discolouration due to harsh chemicals or ingredients.
